Comprehensive Emergency and Planning is an eight-module course designed using Canvas, with integrations of Cidi Labs to enhance its interactivity and user experience. Each module features lectures that incorporate comprehensive readings and various multimedia elements to teach core concepts. To improve the engagement of students with the course content, Cidi Labs interactives such accordions, drag-and-drop activities, and check your understanding quizzes such as multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank are used. The course also includes robust discussions and a scenario-based project that provides practical experience in emergency management. The final project is split into milestones with peer and instructor feedback, guiding students through the development of emergency response plans, risk assessments, and crisis communication strategies.

The course focuses on leveraging various multimedia tools and interactive features. For example. the course integrates Panopto quizzes within lecture videos to provide real-time self-assessment and immediate feedback, reinforcing understanding of teaching methods and complex grammatical concepts. To cater to diverse learning styles, the course incorporates instructional videos, infographics, and interactive grammar exercises, making the content engaging and informative. The design also highlighted collaborative learning through including interactive elements like discussion boards, teaching reflections, and peer-feedback to foster a community of practice among trainees.

Interactive activities like discussions, blog sharing, and peer feedback on submissions are created to foster a collaborative learning environment. The design also focused on implementing a project based final assignment to enable students to walk away from the course with an established comprehensive portfolio of their food media creations.
